Cue blog post about POWER Yin by Candlelight collaborations – yes, imaginative I know!

Collaboration is not new to POWER, we pride ourselves on the work we’ve done, since day one, to shine a light on fellow businesses, because we know we’re stronger together. “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle” Thomas Jefferson, I think – and also bananachat – it really is the essence of collaboration.

We recently wrapped up our POWER Yin by Candlelight Winter Season, and what a season it was. The series was supported by Nic, of Pure Cariad, who provided her beautiful candles to set the scene each month, filling the space with their relaxing aromas and magical light. Nic is an aromatherapist and candle maker and loves to scribble on a banana (despite not actually liking bananas – that’s dedication!), whether that’s high energy POWER on a static bike, walking around the park with her dog Ted, or POWER Yin.

The intention of POWER Yin by Candlelight is to create a calm, peaceful space each month, where people can move, breath and connect to themselves and each other. We invite co-collaborators with a shared purpose, to showcase their offerings, and provide an opportunity for people to be introduced to, sample, or dive a bit deeper into a variety of wellbeing practices.

Nic was our first collaborator of this popular POWER Yin Pop-up back in the Winter of 2023, and she helped to kick of this Winter series as a workshop guest, introducing the bunch to the different aromas she uses, as well as how to blend them. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore a bit deeper into how each essential oil has a different effect. We all left with a scent roller, with the blend of our choice, to use during the practice and beyond. I carry mine everywhere now, and have found using the scent to create a positive peaceful memory association really helpful when I need a moment of calm in a busy day.

Jez rocked up with Ritual Sauna Co in December and introduced us to the amazing healing benefits of Sauna. Noelle took us through a workshop on Pelvic Health in January and our finale this month was supported by Jemima who lead a powerful workshop on Tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Technique. She even helped me work through my perspective on school run anxiety (no mean feat!) in a demonstration of how the technique can be used to re-frame points of anxiety and stress.

Each workshop was followed by POWER Yin, a combination of Tai Chi, guided relaxation and meditation. The combination of these wellbeing practices and POWER Yin resulted in some beautiful Sunday evenings spent together, releasing stuck energy and emotions, filling up on what helps us feel calm and peaceful and sharing our experiences together. These evenings fill me with so much hope and joy. Seeing how we thrive in community, and sharing that with fellow business owners who have similar values is a privilege, and has been a shining light through Winter.
