“TEDx coming to Chichester is a
proud moment for our city, and I’m so excited to be part of it. For someone with an
out-of-the-box idea, being selected to share it through the incredible, powerful TEDx
platform is what dreams are made of. After years of watching TED Talks through a
screen, preparing to stand on the iconic red dot in my hometown of Chichester feels
really special.”
Pinch me.
After weeks under embargo, I can finally share something that feels both surreal and incredibly special:
I’ve been selected to be a TEDx Chichester speaker.
From 116 people, I’m one of 14 chosen to stand on the iconic TEDx red dot on the 14th of November, in my hometown of Chichester. What a privilege.
The event theme, Courage and Curiosity to Create, explores how bold thinking, creativity and human connection can shape the future.
My talk – the first to be announced – opens chapter one of the event: curiosity – seeing the world differently. It explores how ordinary objects, viewed through a different lens can spark curiosity, creativity and connection, helping people express what often goes unsaid.
For a long time, I’ve been one of the 44 million TEDx YouTube subscribers, watching people share ideas that shift perspective and spark curiosity. Soon, I’ll get to join them.
Being able to say “thanks for coming to my TEDx talk” is a big, exciting vision‑board tick.
It’s news I’d have loved to share with my Dad, who celebrated and championed my out‑of‑the‑box idea and died in 2021. He’d have been front row in November.
I’m incredibly grateful to curators Laura Pauley and Ellie‑Jayne Booth for bringing TEDx to Chichester; to the audition panel for this opportunity; to my TEDx coach, Vanessa Cuddeford; and to Claire Skaptason – the only person I shared my TEDx audition piece with. It was emotional – this moment, and everything that’s led me here, means a bunch.
