When your team is spread across the country, opportunities to come together really matter.

For their Away Day in Chichester, Taylor Made Financial Planning wanted to bring colleagues together, support physical and mental wellbeing, and reinforce the positive working environment that sits at the heart of the business.

Having experienced POWER first-hand at a friend’s garden party, Partner Annette Hender wanted her remote-working team to feel the POWER too.

The team arrived in Chichester with no idea what their afternoon team-building activity would involve.

Before the headphones and bananas came out, Annette invited Elaine to share the story behind POWER and the lived experiences that inspired it.

Speaking openly about the challenges and turning points that shaped her outlook on life, Elaine shared how curiosity, connection and play became the foundations of both her personal journey and the business she leads today.

The conversation set the tone for the afternoon ahead, creating a space where people felt able to show up as themselves and engage with the experience in their own way.

What followed was an afternoon many hadn’t expected.

Some arrived curious. Others were more sceptical. A team-building experience involving bananas, movement and headphones certainly wasn’t what they had anticipated.

Yet before long, financial planners, administrators and paraplanners could be found across the park on swings, zip lines, walking routes and quiet spots for reflection.

Three-piece suits and brogues didn’t stop play.

Everyone was invited to experience POWER in their own way. Some chose to cycle. Some walked. Some sat and reflected. All wearing POWER headphones. All reconnecting with their curiosity.

As always with POWER, the experience wasn’t about getting everyone to do the same thing.

It was about creating space for people to think differently, reconnect with themselves and build stronger connections with those around them.

On sight of those bikes rolling out the back of your van, I was very much of the opinion ‘no thanks’. Well, I can officially say I’m a convert. Thank you so much, Elaine, for  sharing your way of life with us. Your energy is infectious and you gave us all the opportunity to reconnect with our curious and playful sides. superpower.

Claire Leese, Paraplanner

The experience didn’t end when the headphones came off.

Back at head office, the team were invited to bake POWER banana bread using the words, reflections and memories gathered during the session as ingredients for the recipe.

What began as an Away Day activity became something more nourishing and long-lasting. A way to revisit the conversations, connections and moments that mattered.

And once the final crumbs of banana bread had disappeared?

Each member of the team still had their reusable POWER bottle. A small reminder of a day spent reconnecting with themselves, each other and the power of play.
